Shopify’s Buy Button Explained — How to Add Buy Buttons on Any Page or Blog

How to Use Shopify’s Buy Button App (Free) — Add Buy Buttons to Any Page or Blog Post

Shopify’s Buy Button app lets you sell products or collections from anywhere — not just your store. In this guide, you’ll learn exactly how to install, create, and embed Buy Buttons into any webpage, blog, or external site.

Shopify’s Buy Button app is one of the most underused yet powerful free tools Shopify provides. It lets you create a direct purchase link — or “mini checkout” — that can live anywhere you want. You can embed it on a WordPress post, a Squarespace page, or even inside your Shopify blog.

From your Shopify admin, go to the search bar and type “Buy Button.” Click the official Buy Button sales channel by Shopify (you’ll see it’s made and developed by Shopify itself). It’s completely free — just click Install.

Once added, you’ll notice a new option in your admin sidebar: Buy Button. Click it, then select Create a Buy Button. You can choose between a product button or a collection button depending on what you’d like to promote. After choosing your product, you’ll enter a customization window where you can set your button’s look and feel — from corner shape and width to button text, colors, and typography. You can even decide whether it sends users straight to checkout or your product page.

When you’re satisfied, click Next and Shopify will generate a block of HTML code for you. This is your buy button embed code. You can paste this code anywhere that accepts HTML — including your Shopify blog post editor, your About page, or even a site built outside Shopify.

To paste the code, open your editor, click the </> (HTML) icon, and insert it wherever you’d like the button to appear. After saving, the button will appear on the page and link directly to your checkout or product page. It’s a fantastic way to increase visibility and conversions for featured products.

For example, I often recommend adding Buy Buttons inside educational blog posts or tutorials. If you’re writing a post about your top-selling item, you can add a Buy Button right under the paragraph where you describe it. Readers can click and buy instantly without leaving the page — an excellent way to boost conversion rates naturally.
