How Shopify’s New “Buy With Prime” Feature Works (Amazon + Shopify Integration Explained)

How Shopify’s New “Buy With Prime” Integration Works

Shopify just announced one of the most unexpected and exciting updates in recent memory — Amazon’s Buy With Prime button is officially being added to Shopify checkout. For the first time ever, Shopify merchants will be able to let Prime members purchase through their store using their Amazon credentials, fast shipping, and easy returns — without losing control of customer data.

This is a major step forward for merchants who want to give their customers more flexibility at checkout while maintaining 100% ownership of their brand experience and data. Essentially, this integration connects Shopify Payments with Amazon’s fulfillment network, giving sellers the best of both worlds.

As explained by Shopify, merchants in the U.S. will soon be able to activate Buy With Prime directly within the Shopify Admin. Once enabled, a button will appear at checkout — just like PayPal or Apple Pay — but this one will say “Buy With Prime.” Customers who are Amazon Prime members can click it to use their saved Amazon details and enjoy fast, free delivery and returns.

The key difference between this and older integrations, like Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) or Amazon Multi-Channel Fulfillment, is that this new version keeps all order and payment data within Shopify. That’s a big deal for privacy, analytics, and brand control. Merchants won’t have to manage orders from Amazon separately — everything remains visible in the Shopify Orders dashboard.

If you’re still setting up your Shopify store, now’s a great time to prepare for these types of integrations. Check out the 30-Day Beginner’s Shopify Program for a step-by-step guide to building and optimizing your Shopify store the right way from day one.

Shopify says the rollout will start as an invite-only beta for select U.S.-based merchants who already use (or plan to use) Amazon’s fulfillment network. It’s expected to become more widely available after September. Along with this, Amazon Pay will also be added as a payment option inside Shopify Payments, making it even easier for customers to choose their preferred payment method.

It’s clear Shopify is focused on making checkout as fast and flexible as possible. This follows other recent checkout updates like the One-Page Checkout and improved conversion tracking tools. And with over 148 million Prime members in the U.S., this collaboration gives Shopify merchants a major new advantage.
