Shopify Blog Posts Moved to Content Menu — New Admin Update Explained
Shopify has quietly rolled out another change inside the admin — and this one’s easy to miss if you’re managing your store every day. The Blog posts section has officially been moved from the “Online Store” sales channel into the new Content menu. No email, no changelog, and no announcement.
Previously, store owners could manage their blogs under Online Store → Blog posts. That menu is now gone. Instead, you’ll find it under Content → Blog posts in your Shopify admin sidebar. The Content menu now includes Meta objects, Files, Menus, and now Blog posts. This follows last month’s move of the Menus item from Online Store into the same section — suggesting Shopify is reorganizing creative and structure tools under one unified “Content” hub.
For beginners, this can be confusing if you’re still learning your way around the Shopify dashboard. Many tutorials and screenshots online will still show “Blog posts” under the Online Store section, so if you can’t find it — don’t worry, it’s not gone. It’s just been relocated.
It’s worth noting that blog posts are still just as important as ever. They’re not an outdated part of Shopify; in fact, they’re one of the most powerful ways to bring organic traffic to your store. Inside your admin, click Content in the left sidebar. You’ll now see your Blog posts listed beside your Meta objects and Files. This is where you’ll create new articles, edit existing ones, and manage your post settings. All existing posts and URLs remain the same, so no changes are needed for your published content.
Shopify hasn’t stated why these updates are rolling out, but many believe it’s part of an ongoing cleanup to centralize “content-related” features under one unified tab. The Online Store section is now down to just Themes, Pages, and Preferences — suggesting more updates could be coming soon.
If you’ve been publishing regular content, remember to submit your sitemap to Google through Google Search Console. It helps Google index your pages and ensures your store’s new blog posts show up in search results. You can check which posts have been indexed, which are blocked, and which need reindexing. Regularly reviewing this is crucial to your store’s long-term SEO.
